Taken from their forthcoming album Interstellar Peach Delight – out on May 7th via Cornelius Chapel Records, Man Meets Machine is the new single from Birmingham, Alabama indie-psych band Results of Adults, and we’re delighted to be able to premiere the accompanying video for the track right here on Backseat Mafia today.
The band; led by singer/guitarist/pianist (amongst other things) Tym Cornell, alongside his partner and wife Merry Bee Cornell on bass and Mark Beasley on drums and percussion have a couple of releases under their belt, and Man Meets machine is this delicious slice of Southern influenced psychedelic pop.
Of the track, Tym Cornell told us “I think about the future a lot and how it relates to sci-fi and how present time is very futuristic. We just don’t realize it because we are living it. I’ve imagined how our children’s future will be. There will come a time when we will have to decide if we want to or if we even can protect our children from sex robots.”
Swimming in these synth sounds, organ and chopping guitars, the track swirls and snakes around your ears, but is driven by such irresistible melodies and persuasive accompaniment it’s impossible not to fall head over heels in love with it. It’s accompanied by a fittingly weird and wild video that features psychedelic machinery blended in with the band playing.
Brilliant stuff.
