If you haven’t happened upon Old Time Relijun over the course of their 9 album canon, then pull up a chair and check in with their new single ‘Left Hand Shake’, which we’re delighted to premiere right here on Backseat Mafia today. It’s taken from their forthcoming tenth studio album, Musicking, out this Friday (November 5th) via K Records.
Sweaty, off-kilter and raw (as ever),the swamp-punk of Left Hand Shake can still make you dance, with its blistering guitar lines, bass scoops and Beefheart like growls over the top all pulling you in different directions. If that wasn’ t enough (and trust me, it is), then there’s this monumental (albeit fairly short) cosmic wig out at the end, just to pin themselves firmly on your chest as a band never to overlook again.
Of the track Aaron Hartman from the band says “This song started with the drums. Walker’s beat infected us from the start and everything else sort of fell into place. We worked on it very quickly, all first takes – and I think you can feel the immediacy in the recording. The break towards the end literally came out of nowhere.”

The band have recently announced the dates of a UK/EU tour starting next week including an appearance at Le Guess Who!? Festival.
