London duo REUNIØN share the delicate new single ‘Caves’ and we’re pleased to be running the premiere.
Gentle, elegant, and understated, ‘Caves’ is much more than just a piano ballad, layered with subtle complexities that give the track texture and musical depth. Opening with a beautiful raw piano recording, the track soon introduces subtle electronics into the mix with layers of Bon Iver-esque vocoders, crackles, deep sub-bass and gently panned strings.
Blending their pop exploits with experimental production, the pair do a fantastic job of balancing complex musicality and accessibility which is no surprise given that the pair have credits writing and producing for the likes of Two Door Cinema Club, Bloc Party, Kaiser Chiefs and James Bay.
Speaking about the single, the pair explain: “Caves is a song about emerging from something, somewhere. We’ve all been kind of cooped up of late so there’s that desire to head back out in the world, but it’s also about stepping out of any dark place, into the sunlight… from a broken heart, into a new chapter. Anything we all sometimes need a little help and hope getting out of.”
Having already achieved over 1 million streams across digital streaming platforms, REUNIØN are surely set to continue their meteoric rise. Listen to the new single ‘Caves’ below:
