Genoa-based label Brucia Records prides itself on being a home for ‘uncanny, unsettling or unusual’ music, and the forthcoming debut album by Grieving Sea certainly fits that description. The 7-track LP slots nicely into the output of a label that’s put out material spanning a whole host of disparate subgenres like black metal, doom and heavy psych; and the debut offering by this London duo is actually the work of the label founders; namely Giorgio Barrocu and the pseudonymous Void.
The pair have shared three songs off the record already, and today we’re premiering a fourth; Donewiz occupies the space between darkwave and post-punk, with the suitably metallic heft of noise rock particularly making its presence felt on their intense, six-minute new song ‘The Sea Devours’, taken from a suitably wide-ranging record that’s shot through with a sense of dread so strong that it’s almost palpable.
You can stream ‘The Sea Devours’ and previous singles on Bandcamp, where Brucia Records are also taking pre-orders for a /100 CD release; Donewicz is out next Friday July 8th.
