The Los Angeles-based Chris Pierce likes to keep himself busy. With the live music industry having been on pause for the previous 18 months, why wouldn’t he? He has long since established himself in his homeland and released his eighth album American Silence in February, is one half of War and Pierce (who incidentally have a new song out on Friday) and has also found the time to kick off a third side project. A trio completed by Matthew Stevens and Eric Janson, Leon Creek release their debut album Far from Broken next month, and we’re premiering their new single, the rambunctious ‘Shakes the Ground’.
Of the song itself, and particularly its NASCAR-inspired video, Pierce says that, “When we started working on ‘Shakes the Ground’ the music came together really quickly and had a gritty and driving sound, but it also had a sense of chaos and uncertainty, like it was on the edge of falling apart before it was finished. When we started working with Steve Bays on the lyric video we told him that the song has been featured in NASCAR promos this year. He linked some of the song’s themes to racing, showing how precarious it is threading the needle in pursuit of success, and how love and passion keep us going for it.”
Tune in below; Far from Broken – which also features debut single ‘Call It a Day‘ – follows on Tuesday September 21st.
