Julia Daigle is having a busy year. Not only did Paupière, her project with Pierre-Luc Bégin, release their new album Sade Sati just last month, but the Montréalaise also striking out on her own for a solo venture, and we at Backseat Mafia are rather excited to bring you an exclusive reveal of what Daigle has planned for release later in the year, in the form of her debut solo LP, details of which can be found below. Here is the video for her new song ‘Usage Domestique’, released as a single tomorrow:
It serves as the first taste of said debut solo album, arriving toward the end of the year, and it’s a sleek and precise affair, sure to appeal to anyone with a penchant for alt-pop, especially the sort with a Francophone flair. We have a while to wait for the record itself: Un singe sur l’épaule follows on Friday November 5th via Lisbon Lux, but you can—and should—get familiar with ‘Usage Domestique’ in the meantime (and maybe go check out Sade Sati if you’re so inclined). Here’s the tracklist:
01. ‘L’étoile De L’Aube’
02. ‘Sur La Haute Colline’
03. ‘Echo’
04. ‘Nanette’
05. ‘Le Psaltérion’
06. ‘Usage Domestique’
07. ‘Cinq ou Neuf’
08. ‘Vallée Grise’
09. ‘Chapelle Arnette’
