Singer-songwriter Joey Gutos returns with the vibrant new single ‘Givin in’ featuring fellow vocalist Cori Rios. We’re excited to be running the premiere!
Built around a warming, summery acoustic guitar, boxy beat, and warming bass, the track quickly captures an easy going, Jack Johnson-esque tone under the silky, breathy, ultra-chilled vocal delivery.
Progressing through the swaying verse to the infectious chorus, the duo’s vocals link up for some effortlessly tight, silky harmonies as they deliver tongue-in-cheek lyricism talking about drinking too much and enjoying it. The track soon introduces a swelling slide guitar line which emphasises the tracks sun-soaked, breezy, etherial nature as the pair take it turns through consecutive verses showcasing their natural musical affinity with one another.
Speaking about the track, Joey explains: “The origins of the song begin after a long, hot summer night chasing the devil down a dark road. Waking up on the floor with nothing but whiskey and bad decisions on our breath, Cori and I wrote “Givin In” in hopes of finding some much needed catharsis… In the end, we found that changes must be made, but they’re better left for another day…”
Fun, easy-listening, vibrant and effortlessly likeable, the new video for ‘Givin In’ is out now.
