Taken from his debut EP, due out later this month, we’re delighted to premiere ‘Living for Tonight’ by 26 year old Manchester singer-songwriter Joell Jordi.
Of the track, he says “Living for Tonight is what it says on the tin, it was written about living life for the moment and had a thought behind it of being a good song to get a crowd going at a gig, it means whatever you want it to mean to your self, it can relate to many things in life.”
It’s pulls in from Manchester’s musical history, with inflections of later factory records here, and a dollop of the Gallagher brothers there. Swathes of guitars bleed into each other, as Jordi exclaims ‘Don’t you go worrying about tomorrow / For we are living for tonight’, and with his likeable vocal and a tune that would give any of those influences a run for its money, we believe him.
