More fiery and expressive than ever, we see Jessica Nicole Brown return with her new genre bending sound, as she moves away from gentle R&B, instead exploring the realms of hip-hop and rock on the new single ‘Hoopla la la’. Following the single’s release, Jessica is now back once again with an aptly intense and fury filled visual and we’re excited to be running the premiere!
Switching between biting rap and her silky yet sarcasm tinted vocals, ‘Hoopla la la’ is clearly part of a healing process for Jessica – her way of dealing with a bad relationship, freeing her pent up rage. This cathartic anger is capture perfectly in the new visual, as Jessica goes to town destroying laptops and crockery with a baseball bat under a menacing red light whilst the tracks layers of spikes drums, distorted guitars and fuzzy electronic bass dance around the soundscape. Jessica’s frenzied, almost psychotic performance in the video, at times feeling as though she has taken you hostage as a viewer is hugely effective, adding to the already fierce nature of her vocal performance.
Speaking about the track Jessica adds:
“I went through many different drafts, but the constant was the feeling of rage or hatred towards someone who said they loved me… I just imagined it with obnoxious 808s and a rock flair. I also heard it having somewhat of a pop/punk attitude in my delivery.
Picture this song being recorded after I was put through hell and now, I’m back to return the favor.”
