Emerging atmospheric indie-trap artist ION returns with his new single ‘1 of 1’, and we’re excited to be running the premiere.
The brainchild of Kosovo raised, now London based rapper and producer Jon Sadiku, at only 1.47 ‘1 of 1’ is understated yet manages to harbour layers of musical experimentation and hard-hitting and at times witty lyricism. Built around layers of floating, ambient synths a tight 4 to floor beat and deep, subby bass, Jon allows his Loyal Carner-esque flow to take centre stage as he uses his love of climbing mountains as a metaphor for his determination to succeed through life and as an artist.
Having spent a large amount of his upbringing navigating through the mountainous region of Kosovo known as Brezovica, ION is often inspired by his experiences while climbing. In fact, it’s these treks through the mountains which inspired the new single and which also appear in the new video.
Talking about 1 of 1, ION explains. “1 of 1 embodies the idea that there truly is only one of you (hence the name). That’s why being yourself is such an important thing to embrace, because that is what will ultimately get you through the coldest of times and over the largest of mountains.”
Short and sweet yet with heaps of depth, the new single is a demonstration of ION as an interesting artist with a unique approach to making music. Watch the new video below:
