Last month we brought you the extraordinary debut single ‘Sentimental Health’ from the ambient Hobart instrumental band follow and it is with the greatest of joy we premiere their shimmering follow-up track ‘Isla’, with its gorgeous video as a spectacular visual accompaniment.
Crystalline guitars etch delicious sonic contrails across the clear blue sky, sparkling and enigmatic, while a gentle rhythm slowly swells underneath. A certain melancholy infuses the sound, while a gentle build up creates an anthemic flourish to the conclusion. This is genuinely achingly beautiful mesmerising and ethereal music that forms a soundtrack to yearning and desire.
Indeed, the music eloquently expresses emotion and feelings without words – an exquisite aural portraiture that is expansive and cinematic.
The video accompanying the track was compiled by Nick Mole from the band with his footage (and some by Ali Davis who also contributes photographs) – aerial sweeps of the breathtakingly beautiful Tasmanian countryside – with urban clusters in the distance and the wild rugged interiors and sweeping coastlines.
This is glorious:
‘Isla’ is out through all the usual channels tomorrow (Friday, 3 February 2023) through the wonderful False Peak Records and is graced with arresting art work from Lucas Walker.
