Premiere: Grids and Dots fancy ‘Movies At Your House’ in a shimmering haze of pure dreamy pop, ahead of new EP and launch date.

We are very honoured to give you an exclusive listen to the new song and video for ‘Movies At Your House’ from the wonderful Grids and Dots. This band has an unique brand of dreamy immersive pop, and they are purveyors of fey, wistful songs that floats in the skies like a fluffy cotton wool cloud.

‘Movies At Your House’ continues their ascendancy with its gentle crystalline guitars and reflective tones that drift through the ether like a contrails in the sky. The harmonies are delicate and layered, the resultant atmosphere something that bleeds a delicious melancholia and nostalgia seeped in melody and colour.

The band says of the track:

‘Movies’ is a song about friendships and the blurred lines that can happen when close friends start to become something else, and the self-doubt that can come with that.

It was recorded in a set of 4 songs in 2022 at Hercules St Studios, before we took a long break for some personal reasons. We excitedly came back to these songs and mixed and mastered them late last year and into early this year.

The single is accompanied by an immersive music video with the band performing on top of a series of projections of photographs from their childhood years. Layered and romantic, it was filmed by Benjamin Ling at an old warehouse filled with outdated machinery and broken tools.

‘Movies At Your House’ is out tomorrow through Scenic Drive Records and will be available to stream and download via all the usual sites.

Recorded along with a handful of other songs at Hercules Street Studios in 2022, the track was mixed and mastered by the legendary Wayne Connolly (Boy & Bear, Babe Rainbow, Paul Dempsey, Underground Lovers), and arrives ahead of an upcoming EP ‘Found You On The Weekend’, set to be released by the band early in 2025.

There will be a single launch at Lazy Thinking in Dulwich Hill on Friday, 18 October with Lord Esme and Brrr in support – details below..
