Sheffield band Graces have set the mark with new single ‘Smile’, released on 10th March 2017, introducing their own brand of cinematic indie-pop to the modern world. The track will be officially launched with a sold-out show at the Rocking Chair, cementing their roots in Sheffield’s rich indie music heritage.
‘Smile’ follows the band’s debut EP (aptly named EP1), which featured top singles ‘Hepburn’ and ‘Slow’. The single is a venture into the chaos of youth, bringing forth the moment when a night may crash to its knees. Atmospheric, distorted guitar chords open the track, inviting you into the frenzied night and allowing you to live the scenes written out for movie screens.
You’re balanced on a knife’s edge between the dramatic conversations of youth and reality; the words “Everything you do, I’ll do better” echo through your mind as the energetic guitar keeps pace. Graces record and produce all music themselves, keeping their angst-ridden cinematic tunes 100% original.
There’s something compelling about how Graces don’t shy away from the self-destructive nature of growing up, keeping their integrity and fighting for their youth: “Composure is everything, we act like we’re never gonna die.”

Local bands LOAM and YoungMonarch will join Graces for the single launch party, confirming how Sheffield’s musical heritage continues strong today. You’d be a fool to miss out on this.
