Falkirk punk rock three-piece PERMO release their new single Heroin tomorrow through Disobedient Records (pre-save link here), and ahead of it we are delighted to premiere it right here on Backseat Mafia today.
On the track, bassist Hamish Georgeson says: “It’s written from the perspective of someone looking at their friend’s relationship and seeing they’re trapped and can’t seem to stop going back to this girl who treats them like shit.”
Taking the lead from the likes of Idles and the new new punk revolution, Heroin flies out of the blocks, but has this classic punk/new wave (Almost Dead Kennedys like in its approach) energy, with razor sharp guitar lines and barked vocals over the top. It’s just over 2 minutes of brilliant, breathless spirit.

Taking influence from bands like IDLES and Heavy Lungs, PERMO have developed their own unique sound, combining honest storytelling with the raw energy of punk.
Since forming in late-2019, the band have also played several standout shows. Unfortunately, COVID-19 cancelled any future gigs. The band will be revealing further details of new music over the coming weeks.
“Heroin” is out on Friday 8th January via Disobedient Records. You can stream it before anyone else here.
