Like so many other bands, 2020 should have been a big year for Eldridge Rodriguez. Bostonian Cameron Keiber had previously used this outlet as a pseudonym for solo work outside of The Beatings, who broke up the previous year, but his fourth album under the Eldridge Rodriguez banner – and second with a full band; caught up yet? – was stifled by the pandemic.
Released just a month prior, Slightest of Treason was lost in the shuffle, so they went back to work on a follow-up as soon as they could. Well, the result of those sessions was maybe enough material for two follow-ups, so they certainly didn’t waste any time. 12 songs out of the 25-plus recorded were picked for inclusion on album five, out later in the year.
Opening track ‘A Feeling That Won’t Go Away’ is premiering below, with the quartet joined by Bridget Nault on accordion and Erica Manton on backing vocals – a typically huge-sounding taster of the record, which is called Atrophy and arrives on Friday September 15th via Midriff Records.
