We are honoured to premiere the debut single ‘Backseat’ from Melbourne’s Chloe Booth: an anthemic blast of pop vibrancy that heralds a solid future for the artist.
The single has all the pep and verve of artists like Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift with an indie attitude found in The 1975 or Haim, all delivered in a distinctly Australian tone with a studied pose and an assured stance.
Booth says the song is about individualism and taking control of your destiny:
There’s so many external forces that can control the way we think and who we are, comparison being one of them, this song is the realisation that everyone is on their own journey, it is just up to you to be confident in that.
The rhythmic spine gives a muscular base over which Booth’s velvet vocals glide with passion and power and a rousing chorus. The song is an anthemic joy: filled with a defiant attitude, touched with a melancholic blush but ultimately a pop song of the highest caliber. With producer and songwriter Caleb Klimak on board, Booth is clearly at the start of what will be a very successful career:
‘Backseat’ is out tomorrow through all the usual download/streaming sites and can be pre-saved here.
