Premiere: Cara Potiker shares dazzling new moondaddy song ‘Water Bearer’

San Diego’s Cara Potiker helms moondaddy, a six-strong project who made their debut last year with Poet Lies – a little over a year later, Potiker is planning to follow up that debut album with a more bite-size release that’s no less impressive, taking off today with a refreshingly old-school six-minute lead single. What do we mean by that? Well, the process of creation was entirely analogue, something almost unheard of in 2024.

‘Water Bearer’ has this purposeful, dusty charm to it that sidesteps the ‘endless tinkering’ that comes with more modern recording techniques. Per Potiker: “This is the first project that sounds exactly the way I want my music to sound. I didn’t have the confidence before, and I just let men take reins. My vision really came to life on this analog EP—my band and I took full advantage of the spontaneous and manic energy of tape recording.”

Combining poetic lyrics with sentiments of pure love and devotion, the dream pop song is nothing short of enthralling. Out tomorrow, you can preview ‘Water Bearer’ with us below; the Lightwave Lightwave EP follows on Friday September 13th.
