As the northern hemisphere moves into autumn, the onset of falling leaves and shorter evenings may have you pining for sunnier times; here’s a band that can help with that. Full of whimsy and intrigue, the Kamloops, BC-based quartet Mother Sun serve up an ideal tonic for seasonal blues on their brand new double single of lush and evocative psychedelic pop.
They must currently be under the impression that new material’s better in pairs, because they released ‘Five Leaves : Fish and Chips’ in a similar manner in February, changing tack somewhat after the more conventional delivery of second album SIPS last year. The quartet’s latest offering comes in the form of the breezy ‘Marbles’ and its more contemplative counterpart ‘Mycelium’; a duo in which both sides of this single provide both complement and contrast. Out tomorrow via Bandcamp – and we’d suggest you pick it up there on Friday if you’re so inclined – we’re premiering both sides of the single Backseat Mafia today via their respective videos; tune in below.
