Premiere: Boorloo/Perth’s Bad Weather’s new single ‘Lilac’ is an advancing high, bringing sunshine and warmth.

We are very pleased to premiere the new single ‘Lilac’ from Boorloo/Perth outfit Bad Weather, a follow up to last year’s debut EP and a seamless continuation of their shimmering sound.

‘Lilac’ has all the warmth and radiance of the Westen Australian sun, with a cinematic scope and breadth that matches the endless horizons over the Indian Ocean.

Themed on loss and recovery, Callum Robertson (singer/songwriter/producer) describes the song as:

…feeling lost and then finding some purpose through someone else, who adds a bit of colour to your life. Being with that person you feel safe, at peace, even if everything else in life is a bit of a whirlwind, that person makes you feel settled and still. In this particular situation I lost that person, that comfort, that colour. Life kind of went back to being a bit black and white… I was a bit detached from reality. The reality being that no one else is going to be that peace for you, you need to find it within yourself.

There is an aching melancholia to the chorus that at the same time is uplifting and euphoric. Bad Weather perfect the marriage between pop sensibilities and authenticity in their delivery:

‘Lilac’ is out tomorrow (Thursday, 21 September) and available here to download and stream.

Bad Weather will be performing live at Rosemount Hotel (Four5nine Bar) on Saturday September 23 to celebrate the release – tickets available here.
