It’s been a little bit since we’ve heard from twin sisters Maris and Bryce O’Tierney, otherwise known as maeve & quinn, but they’ve been busy. It’s coming up on two years since the Anchorage-based pair last released something, namely the Star-Crossed EP, but until now we’ve only been offered glimpses of what they were capable of, albeit extremely promising ones. That’s about to change.
The classically trained duo, whose musical pursuits also saw them up sticks for Chicago and Dublin along the way, have got their debut album on the way. It’s not out for a few months yet, but just trust us on this one: it is superb. Some kind of triangulation of Sharon Van Etten, Snail Mail and Maggie Rogers, and if your interest has been piqued you can go ahead and skip straight to the song below, we don’t mind.
It’s called ‘Jeweler’s Row’, a moving ode to friendship that starts out in a relatively unassuming fashion, but the pair’s sound has some serious heft behind it, as you’ll hear over the track’s five-minute duration. It’s the lead single from Another Door, out on Friday September 8th; you’re gonna want this on your radar in a few months. Get in on the ground floor while you still can.
