Georgia born but Scotland based singer songwriter Addie Brik is set to release her new album ‘I have a Doctor on Board’ via her own Itza label on June 8th. The ten track album was written in a small room overlooking the Firth of Clyde and is based around a series of interviews Addie had with an inventor and lifeboat captain.
Taken from it is single ‘Belly’, this dark sprawling slice of Kate Bush like folk pop, contrasts these stark piano chords with sparkling vocal harmonies in the chorus, as it wraps its wispy melodies around your ears, and takes hold of your imagination. The accompanying video, which we are delighted to premiere here on Backseat Mafia was shot within Ayrshire – Culzean, the Dark Skies forrest and Arran in particular. Of the video, Brik says, “I live in this area, my ancestors are from these parts, to me the landscape shapes the music. And so I am happy to have had the opportunity to pair up these two things in Belly.”
