Tokyo’s coolest rock ‘n’ roll time travelers The 5.6.7.8’s are back, baby—locked, loaded, and ready to unleash a 14-track Best of LP on March 14, just in time for their Australian tour. With cover art by mid-century maestro Shag, the album proves that these women are still at the top of their game.
Featuring hits handpicked by the band, this LP brings you everything from the iconic “Woo Hoo” (as heard in Kill Bill Vol. 1) to deep cuts that pack as much punch as their trademark rockabilly-meets-punk sound.
We first saw them light up screens when Tarantino made “Woo Hoo” a global anthem of vintage cool. But if you think they’re just a cinematic novelty, think again. Since kicking off in ‘86, sisters Yoshiko “Ronnie” Fujiyama and Sachiko have been serving up a hotpot of ‘50s American rock, British Invasion riffs, and a splash of Japanese Showa-era flair. And don’t forget the reckless energy of ‘70s punk.

With long-time friend Akiko Omo now on bass, the lineup’s as tight as their riffs. Whether they’re tearing through surf rock bangers or garage punk scorchers, they’ve got a sound that makes vintage feel viciously fresh.
