One of the most dedicated singer-songwriters in the industry is Katie Crutchfield. Born in Alabama and raised near Waxahatchee Creek, she eventually left her hometown to forge her own path under the moniker Waxahatchee. After six critically acclaimed albums, she says that she has never felt more assured in her identity as an artist. While her sound has evolved from lo-fi folk to lush, alt-tinged country, her voice has remained consistent—honest and intimate, with a poetic Southern lilt.
Following the news of her appearance at Meredith Festival, Waxahatchee will take to the Sydney Opera House, Astor Theatre, Tivoli, Forum and Odeon Theatre this December, with general on sale tickets available from Thursday 29 August at 10am (local).
Her latest album, ‘Tiger’s Blood’, continues her remarkable streak of success, garnering praise worldwide for its incisive and ethnological reflections on both self and society. Acclaimed by outlets such as Double J, Triple R, and 2SER in Australia, as well as internationally by NPR, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, The Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times, ‘Tiger’s Blood’ has solidified Waxahatchee’s reputation as a formidable artist. The album features collaborations with MJ Lenderman—whom she performed with on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert—as well as Spencer Tweedy and Phil Cook.
