Tramlines 2023 is the biggest festival event in Sheffield and the highlight of the local music calendar. I covered the festival last year for Backseat Mafia and it was incredible. So this year I’m back for more!
Here are my tips for the weekend-
Friday
Headlining the Library stage is Sheffield’s own Harri Larkin winner of the 2023 Tramlines competition. Definitely one to watch. I saw Harri play guitar recently for Sam Scherdel at the Leadmill. A real talent and worth a punt on a Friday night. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
The Enemy on the Main Stage have recently re-formed. These Coventry legends are sure to draw a huge crowd and will put on a fantastic show.
Richard Ashcroft heads up the main stage, former lead singer of The Verve who had huge success with songs such as Bitter Sweet Symphony, Lucky Man, and UK number one The Drugs Don’t Work. Now a successful solo artist, Richard is sure to be on form for the Sheffield crowd.
Saturday
Appearing on the Main Stage again this year are Sheffield’s own Everly Pregnant Brothers. Sure crowd pleasers, with a huge following, get your singing hats on..
Vivas on the Leadmill stage is another Sheffield band, who recently opened for Def Lepard at the Sheffield United Ground concert. Enough said…you will enjoy this set from a very talented bunch of local musicians.
Red Rum Club on the Main Stage. This Liverpool band are Tramlines favourites appearing on the Library stage a few years ago and progressing to this well deserved 2023 high profile slot. The set is sure to be high energy, with great songs and that legendary trumpet!
Chappaqua Wrestling on the T’other Stage are flying high at the moment. They are gaining traction with impressive reviews in the national music press and selling out live shows. Be sure to check out this Indie Rock guitar band.
Sunday
Sheffield’s Charlotte Branson headlines the Library stage. Definitely one to watch. A superb singer with a fantastic stage presence and a stellar band of musicians. Charlotte is flying high with great music press reviews. Expect strong pop/rock oriented original tunes with powerful soaring vocals. I for one will be watching this set and you should too.
Sheffield’s own legends Reverend and the Makers , John (The Rev) and his brilliant band are riding the crest of a wave, having just released a new album which is receiving huge critical acclaim. Get down to the front for this one if you can for the ultimate crowd atmosphere and a set full of ‘bangers’
Barrioke with the coolest man on TV Shaun Williams (Eastenders etc) bringing you his own original take on the classics. This slot is sure to be one huge party. Get down early.. or prepare to stand outside the tent..
Sugababes Headlining the T’other Stage will be a smart call, lots of huge hits from the 2000’s and incredible vocals. Talking of great vocals Ella Henderson takes to this stage before the Sugababes and based on seeing Ella duet recently with Tom Grennan I will definitely be in attendance for this set.
I could list many more to be honest. The line up this year is fantastic and the three headline acts are worth the ticket price alone.
The Sheffield-based talent on offer once again proves that the local music scene is alive, and thriving.
The Library Stage is full of upcoming grass roots talent. There are sure to be some stand out acts. Make sure you show the potential stars of tomorrow some support during the weekend if you can.
Tramlines is sold out and if previous years are anything to judge by you can expect one of the finest festivals in the UK.
