Tinvis makes a compelling return with the atmospheric, brooding new single ‘Echo’, the second single from the upcoming debut album, Texnia, set for release via Mama Mañana Records in summer 2025.
Written amidst constant travel between California and Texas, ‘Echo’ lyrically encapsulates the feeling of existing between two worlds yet not fully belonging to either over a swelling soundscape of warm guitar tones, organ and tight drums. Best categorised as psychedelic-blues, the single highlights the projects growing potential.
Marking a significant milestone for Tinvis, the brainchild of songwriter Joel Daniel, Texnia showcases an evolution shaped by years spent in the Davis/Sacramento music scene. The album’s creation was supported by an arts grant from the City of Davis, CA, through its Arts and Cultural Affairs Fund—a program that has contributed over $50K to local artists.
For this project, Daniel brought together an exceptional lineup of collaborators, including producer Max Hart (War on Drugs, Katy Perry, We Are Scientists, The Staves), lead guitarist Luke Reynolds (Guster, Sharon Van Etten, Brett Dennen), and drummer Eric Gardner (Tom Morello, Melissa Etheridge). Much of the album took shape at Ramble Creek Studio in Austin, Texas, under the guidance of Britton Beisenherz (Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Marie/Lepanto, Will Johnson, Little Mazarn).
Drawing inspiration from the poetic lyricism of contemporary Bob Dylan, the raw authenticity of classic Neil Young, and the immersive soundscapes of Wild Pink and Radiohead, Daniel’s songwriting also nods to modern female artists like Phoebe Bridgers, Ex:Re, Flock of Dimes, and Adrianne Lenker. The result is a deeply resonant collection of songs woven with themes of longing, nostalgia, and cautious hope—mirroring the vast landscapes that bridge Texas and California.
