In my humble opinion one of Australia’s most exciting bands, Cousin Tony’s Brand New Firebird (CTBNF) have just announced an Australian tour to promote the release of their fourth single ‘Every Morning It Breaks’ from last year’s magnificent ‘Smiles Of Earth’ (one of my favourite releases of 2022).
‘Every Morning It Breaks’ is achingly beautiful and statuesque: anthemic as is the way of CTBNF and utterly moving. Lachy Rose says of the track:
It’s perhaps the one chink in the armour of this album’s unwavering positivity, a reminder that no good feeling comes without its opposing force – a dose of heartbreak every morning.
Its ethereal nature is captured beautifully in the video clip of a live rendition at Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory. The band holds the audience enthralled, and the delivery and performance is spell binding:
CTBNF are embarking on an Australian East Coast tour to promote the single release and there is an overseas tour on the planning board – details below. From the above video, it is clear CTBNF are as mesmerising in the flesh as on record.
