News: Supergrass Return to Australia After 17 Years for ‘I Should Coco’ Anniversary Tour

Britpop legends Supergrass are making their long-awaited return to Australia in June 2025, armed with their riotous debut I Should Coco and a fresh dose of nostalgia. It’s been 17 long years since Gaz Coombes and co. last headlined Aussie stages, but that changes with a three-show east coast sprint to mark the 30th anniversary of the record that made them household names and messy-haired teen heroes. They’ll be performing I Should Coco in full, plus a stack of other hits from their Britpop-era arsenal.

Formed in Oxford back in 1993, Supergrass crash-landed into the UK charts with the sort of energy that made parents nervous and NME editors ecstatic. Their debut album — a Mercury-nominated, UK #1 juggernaut — soundtracked the summer of ‘95 and cemented their status as one of the sharpest, funniest, and most melodic bands of the era. And yes, “Alright” is still a banger.

Across five more studio albums, they sidestepped the Britpop burnout with ease, evolving from cheeky chancers to full-blown psych-rock craftsmen before splitting in 2010. The members went their separate ways — Gaz into solo stardom, Danny into acting, Mick into producing — but the reunion in 2019 (and 2020’s career-spanning The Strange Ones box set) proved the magic was still very much alive.

A planned Aussie tour in 2020 was nixed by COVID, leaving fans hanging — but now, 2025 is shaping up as the year Supergrass finally make good on their promise, bringing the I Should Coco 30th Anniversary Tour to our shores in gloriously loud fashion.
