News: SAL Returns With New Single ‘Kerosene’

Cork singer-songwriter SAL shares the delicate new single ‘Kerosene’. Following the resounding success of previous release ‘Issues’, the new single showcases a more fragile, delicate side to her writing, swapping the energy of the previous single for a more stripped, emotive sonic pallet.

Offering a spacious soundscape of strummed acoustic guitar, swelling synths and atmospherics, ‘Kerosene’ captures a con iver-esque depth in its soundscaping under SAL’s naturally soaring, pop tinted, almost country-esque vocals. As the song progresses, distant distorted drums, bass, strings and tasteful guitar riffs are introduced, building on the scene set in the early parts of the song.

SAL, reflecting on the inspiration behind ‘Kerosene’, shares her personal journey, “I wrote ‘Kerosene’ at a time of confusion. I’m 28, and I’m at the stage where a lot of people around me are either settling down, moving to Australia, saving for a house, or getting engaged, and I’m doing none of those things. I’m out here touring, writing music, and doing what I love and adore. When I wrote this song, though, I felt like I was doing something wrong by not conforming to societal expectations. I felt like I wanted those things. But it’s only from writing this song that I realized it’s okay not to be where others are. This song is for anyone feeling like they’re doing life ‘wrong.’ You’re doing great, and there’s no such thing as a right or wrong way.”

SAL has graced some of Ireland’s most prestigious stages and expanded her reach to the UK and Germany. She has shared the stage with renowned artists like Declan O’Rourke, Aimee, Mick Flannery, The Stunning, Luka Bloom, and Wyvern Lingo.

SAL continues to build on her previous successes with more upcoming shows, including supporting Declan O’Rourke on his acoustic tour in Cork and Killarney, and touring with Niall McCabe across Ireland.
