Rhett Repko Shares the hard-hitting new single ‘How Cold’, produced by the legendary Mark Needham, known for his work with The Killers and Imagine Dragons.
‘How Cold’ hits the ground running with Repko’s signature anthemic rock sound, grabbing listeners from the very first note. Building a soundscapes of dappled electronics, layers of guitar and punching drums under the lead vocals.
Thematically, the track delves into the harsh realities of a heartless love, a theme that Repko explores with unflinching honesty. Far from a traditional love song, ‘How Cold’ addresses the brutal truths of romance, showcasing Repko’s ability to craft irresistibly catchy melodies backed by a powerful ‘wall of sound.’ This unique combination continues to push him further into the spotlight as an artist who isn’t afraid to take risks.
Reflecting on the inspiration behind the track, Repko shares, “With ‘How Cold,’ I was talking about that kind of girl that’s super cold to everyone, and you know if you get close to her, she’s going to break your heart. You’ve heard the stories, you’ve seen the social media posts, but you don’t care—you’re too enticed, and you want to give it a chance. Soon after, you know you’re going down, you’re attached, and she’s going to walk away. I wanted the record to be more punky sounding, an authentic straight-up rock song. I wanted it to sound like something a band would play in a tiny club in NYC in the ‘70s, like the Ramones, but produced for a modern world.”
