R&B solo artist Jake Exavier has unveiled his latest single, ‘Voodoo’, blending smooth vocals with a laid-back beat and drawing on influences from his Louisiana roots. The track incorporates themes of love and mystique, reflecting both his personal experiences and cultural heritage.
“Voodoo is a reflection of Jake’s roots, as the track draws inspiration from both the magical allure of love and the rich cultural heritage of Louisiana. ‘My team and I were sitting around in the studio, just brainstorming different concepts,’” Jake explains. “‘We landed on the idea of how love can make you do crazy things, and we decided to connect that with the fact that I’m from Louisiana, where people often associate “Voodoo” with the culture.’”
Built around an atmospheric production style, ‘Voodoo’ layers soulful melodies with a steady, urban-inspired rhythm. The song’s concept ties the unpredictable, emotional pull of love to the mysticism commonly associated with Louisiana culture, creating a track that stands out both musically and thematically.
Jake Exavier grew up in Zachary, Louisiana, where he developed a passion for music early on, inspired by R&B legends like Usher, Chris Brown, and Stevie Wonder. His talent for performance was recognized at just 16, when he won first place twice at the Apollo Theater. Now carving his path in the R&B genre, Jake focuses on combining classic influences with contemporary soundscapes, as demonstrated in ‘Voodoo’.
