PJ Harvey has announced the release of her tenth studio album, ‘I Inside the Old Year Dying’, which is set for release on 7th July. The lead single, ‘A Child’s Question, August,’ is out today alongside a music video directed by Steve Gullick.
The new album, was recorded with long-time creative collaborators John Parish and Flood. ‘I Inside The Old Year Dying’ is scattered with biblical imagery and references to Shakespeare, all of these distinctions ultimately dissolve into something profoundly uplifting and redemptive.
“I think the album is about searching, looking—the intensity of first love, and seeking meaning. Not that there has to be a message, but the feeling I get from the record is one of love—it’s tinged with sadness and loss, but it’s loving. I think that’s what makes it feel so welcoming: so open.”
