Rising North Welsh duo Alffa build excitement for their sophomore album O’r Lludw / From Ashes with the release of its third single, ‘Dance Again’.
The project of Sion Eifion Land’s and Dion Wyn Jones, Alffa have gained widespread acclaim having released the first Welsh song to reach 1 million streams. Making a sound that blends elements of punk and hard rock, the new single ‘Dance Again’ dives headfirst into pure punk energy, delivering a sonic storm that evokes comparisons to SOFT PLAY’s recent work on Heavy Jelly. Punching drums and Dion Wyn Jones’ distortion soaked, rhythmic guitar work, paired with his raw, guttural vocals, creates an explosive atmosphere. Yet, the track’s emotional core offers a surprising contrast to its aggressive sound, centering around themes of self-acceptance and resilience, it turns the act of dancing in the rain into a metaphor for triumph over adversity, pushing a message of hope amid the storm.
Alffa describe the track as pivotal to their upcoming album’s narrative: “By choosing to embrace the challenges symbolised by the rain, the act of dancing becomes a powerful release, alleviating the emotional strain and renewing one’s spirit. This song stands out as a pivotal piece on the album, encapsulating the overarching theme of finding strength and solace in difficult times.”
Partnering with acclaimed producer Gethin Pearson for the upcoming album, Alffa have channeled their experiences into a bilingual exploration of their evocative, expressive and exciting artist vision. The full album O’r Lludw / From Ashes is due November 29th.
