Don McGlashan – singer/songwriter with legendary New Zealand band The Mutton Birds and a regular collaborator with Neil Finn – today announces a short run of Australian shows to take place in October. The dates will belatedly follow the release earlier in the year of his new album, ‘Bright November Morning’, which debuted at number 1 on the New Zealand album chart, as well as the release of the album’s poignant third single ‘All The Goodbyes in the World.
McGlashan was originally set to tour Australia soon after the album’s release – his tour was set to include his long-awaited first appearance at the Port Fairy Folk Festival – but both his Australian and New Zealand tours had to be postponed due to implications of New Zealand’s then-current COVID Protection Framework. McGlashan will be accompanied in Australia by Anita Clark on violin, keys & backing vocals. Anita, who records under the name Motte, is a master violinist and favourite of the NZ music scene. She’s been employed by the likes of Marlon Williams, Nadia Reid and Lawrence Arabia and has a skillful reach across genres. Clark will also open for Don at all shows.
Tour dates are as follows, and tickets available here:
Wednesday, 12 October – The Great Club, Sydney
Thursday, 13 October – Smiths Alternative, Canberra
Friday 14 October – Memo Music Hall, Melbourne
In the meantime have a listen to the heart achingly beautiful single from the album, ‘All The Goodbyes In The World’, which has that quintessential Dunedin sound:
It’s a shame this passed me by back in February, and it is also well worth having a listen to ‘Bright November Morning’:
Exquisite stuff.
