The sixth edition of Pa’l Norte, taking place at the Fundidora Park in Monterrey, Mexico on Fri April 20th & Sat April 21st, hosts over 75 artists crossing all genres and styles. Headed up this year by the likes of Muse, Zoé, Richard Ashcroft, Franz Ferdinand, Queens of The Stone Age, Bunbury and Justice, the festival welcomes tens of thousands of guests each day, and has been a sold-out event since its first edition.
After warring drug cartels made the city a turbulent place to be – and put a halt to nearly all nightlife in the region – Pa’l Norte was created to celebrate the end of these troubled times, with the aim of bringing a big party back to the city, reuniting the biggest acts from around the globe (and especially Latin America) and re-connecting the die-hard music loving community of Monterrey. It is now widely considered one of the most important festivals in Latin America.
A total of seven stages make up the festival, covering electronic, dance, indie-rock, pop and a whole lot more. Pa’l Norte’s “Surprise Stage” is an annual highlight too, and the site is completed by an outstanding traditional food market, as well as free barbershops, piercing, tattoos and local crafts, which go a long way to emphasise the event’s focus on the customs and roots of the city, its entrepreneurial and progressive personality, its industry, its people, its mountains and the modernity that characterizes it.
