Middlesbrough’s pioneering music festival Twisterella has announced the full lineup & stage splits for its ninth annual event, taking place on Saturday 14th October across multiple venues & spaces throughout the town centre. These new additions join an already impressive lineup of emerging & established artists including headliners Prima Queen, Dutch Uncles, Avalanche Party, Opus Kink & Venus Grrrls.
Twisterella 2023 will also play host to the likes of post-punkers Shelf Lives, Brighton alt-pop outfit Ciel, psychedelic country pop collective Melin Melyn, seven piece Glaswegians The Joy Hotel alongside new additions including Hartlepool indie-poppers Marketplace, Megan Wyn, Kitty Fitz, Melanie Baker and Liz Corney, who is best known for her work with The Cornshed Sisters and Field Music.
Now in its ninth year, Twisterella has previously played host to established artists, such as Sam Fender, Pip Blom, Dream Wife, Benefits, Clean Cut Kid and The Howl & The Hum. Meanwhile, the festival’s co-promoters have a successful history of introducing emerging artists to the region, having promoted shows for the likes of The 1975, Wolf Alice, Alt-J, Daughter, The Vaccines, Mumford & Sons and many others as they were breaking.
In addition to its music lineup, Twisterella also hosts its own (un)Conference, a crucial & inclusive forum that brings together key figures from the music industry in Middlesbrough. Here, they share their knowledge, provide guidance, and offer feedback to Teesside’s next exciting generation of artists.
Featuring a line-up of experts and innovators in the music industry, speakers include Bradley Kulisic & Pippa Morgan (Singing Light), Jodie Nicholson (independent artist), Danny Lowe (Press On Vinyl), Jasmine Sidhu (Hanglands), Lucy Harbron (Gigwise), Hollie Galloway (filmmaker) & David Saunders (NARC/TMA), Shell Zenner (Amazing Radio) and Shakk (BBC Music Introducing).
The un(Conference) will take place at Middlesbrough Town Hall and is free entry & all ages. Registration opens at 10:30am and the (un)conference finishes at 12:30pm, in time to head to the festival for the first artists.
