LUX The Band are back with their latest single, ‘Infinite Mind’, a track that expertly balances bounding instrumentation and rich lyricism. The divine lead melodies soar from phrase to phrase, supported by roaring electric guitar distortion, lively drums, and fervent bass lines. As the song builds to its climax, an inspired solo brings the track to life.
The band’s founders, Angela Randall and Sylvain Laforge, provide insight into the creation of ‘Infinite Mind’: “The song was recorded on tape, mixed, and mastered at Studio Black Box in France, with the base tracks played live. ‘Infinite Mind’ is a straightforward, up-tempo rock song in a minor key, featuring a memorable gimmick and a Laforge trademark solo. While the chorus is intentionally simple to encourage sing-alongs, the verses are woven with small fantastical details, inviting listeners to explore the writer’s infinite mind.”
The lyrics of ‘Infinite Mind’ capture a moment in time, suspending it long enough to explore a state of mind where beauty and love coexist with life’s small frustrations. The song contemplates the feeling of being “on the outside, looking in” and concludes with a hopeful determination to “retreat, toss out the garbage, and redefine.” It’s a song for springtime renewal and reflection.
Accompanying the single, LUX are releasing an official music video that delves into the themes of time and thought. The singer acts as the narrator, revealing the creative process behind the song, while the ever-present guitarist symbolizes the music itself, bridging the song in her head with ours.
LUX The Band’s unique sound, which they describe as ‘Velvet Rock’, stems from the diverse backgrounds of its founders. Angela Randall, a singer/songwriter from New York, and Sylvain Laforge, a guitarist/composer from Paris, have carved out a distinctive niche. Their debut album, ‘Super 8’, released in 2017 and re-released with bonus tracks in 2019, set the stage for their innovative style. Their follow-up ten-track album, ‘Gravity’, was recorded, mixed, and mastered at the legendary Studio Black Box under the guidance of Peter Deimel (The Kills, Anna Calvi, DEUS), maintaining their commitment to an analog sound.
On stage and in the studio, LUX The Band features the immediately recognizable guitar of Sylvain Laforge, who has played with notable acts like Les Rita Mitsouko and Catherine Ringer, and Angela Randall’s luminous vocals. They are joined by Julien Boisseau on bass (Jesus Volt, Kaz Hawkins) and Amaury Blanchard on drums (Renaud, de Palmas), completing the vibrant ensemble.
With ‘Infinite Mind’, LUX The Band continue to captivate audiences with their distinctive sound and profound lyrical themes, solidifying their place in the modern rock landscape.
