Florida based, 20-year-old singer-songwriter Lilly Bedard returns with her latest single, ‘Not Everything Ends’.
Bringing together delicate finger picked acoustic guitar and Bedard’s silky smooth vocal, the track displays an emotive intimacy before gradually introducing shuffling drums, bass and dappled synths and warming vocal harmonies, the tracks pop elements are emphasised. Lilly displays a deft touch for relatable, heartfelt storytelling in her lyricism. Building throughout the track ends with the edition of strings and piano into the last chorus.
“This song is a heartfelt departure from my usual style,” Lilly explains. “It blends folk influences with my signature raw and honest lyricism. It tells the story of moving from heartbreak to healing—finding love that feels like destiny. The journey unfolds from moments of doubt to the joy of being truly seen and understood. It’s a reminder that, maybe, just this once, not everything has to end.”
The creative process behind ‘Not Everything Ends’ was deeply personal and almost never came to fruition. Lilly recalls, “One summer night, I stayed up until 1 a.m.—which is late for me—trying to write a song that captured exactly what I was feeling. Every chord progression clashed with the words, like they were fighting rather than complementing each other. Frustrated, I nearly scrapped the whole thing. But just when I was about to give up, I found the progression that clicked. I wrote the line, ‘You know it’s the right chord progression when hearing it play makes you cry,’ because that’s exactly what happened. After that moment, the song came together in just twenty minutes, which is rare—especially for a love song.”
She further elaborates, “This is my first true love song. I wanted to express my gratitude to the universe for bringing me someone who made me feel safe, even in the most difficult times. I wanted this song to be a sigh of relief, a release of pent-up tension, for anyone who has experienced love after loss.”
