News: LCSM Releases ‘The Remedy’ via Super-Sonic Jazz, A Bold Exploration of Fungi and London’s Dance Music

LCSM – Likwid Continual Space Motion, a collective led by IG Culture, has just released their highly anticipated album ‘The Remedy’ via Super-Sonic Jazz. This new project is a remarkable showcase of innovative production and thematic depth, intertwining the complex world of fungi with the vibrant pulse of London’s underground dance music scene. The album, sprawling across 19 tracks, masterfully blends broken-beat jazz and neo-soul, creating a sound that is both unique and intricate.

IG Culture, a seminal figure in the UK’s broken beat jazz scene, has long been a driving force behind what he calls ‘London Bruk Boogie’. Known for his foundational role in the legendary CoOp night at Plastic People, IG Culture continues to shape the scene through CoOp Presents and Selectors Assemble. His relationship with pioneering label Super-Sonic Jazz is well-established, dating back to his tribute to Sun Ra released on Kees Heus’ Kindred Spirits in 2003.

‘The Remedy’ is more than an album; it is a celebration of the underground music culture and the interconnectedness of various musical styles. It emphasizes the transformative power of dance music in fostering well-being and unity. This ambitious project features a wide array of instruments and an impressive lineup of musicians, including Dwayne ‘Wonky Logic’ Kilvington on Wurlitzer and keys, Luke Wynter and Chris Jones on bass, Benjamin Appiah on drums, Nathaniel Cross on trombone, and Deji Ijishakan on tenor saxophone.

Vocal contributions come from a stellar lineup of artists: Allysha Joy, Rara Zulu, Oliver Night, and Tyrone Isaac Stuart. IG Culture himself contributes on keys, while Saul Bourne adds the flute, Jnr Biles plays the trumpet, and the Ghettolette String Ensemble enriches the album’s texture. Don Myth rounds out the sound on Hammond B3 and Rhodes.

‘The Remedy’ is a testament to the thriving music scenes that flourish beneath the surface, connecting diverse elements to create a compelling musical narrative. The album not only highlights the artistic prowess of IG Culture and his collaborators but also serves as a reminder of the power of music to unite and heal.
