Hazy psychedelia received a further rejuvenation last year with the release of the myriad, uber-melodic, luscious, harmony-laden self-titled La Luz album. The band’s fourth studio album received vast amounts of praise from both fans and critics alike; hot on it’s heels, La Luz have released ‘Endless Afternoon’, which will be released physically later in the year as an A-side opposite B-side ‘San Fernando Shadow Blues’.
‘Endless Afternoon’ is an ethereally burgeoning cascade of shoegaze-y guitars and the irridescent quality of the band’s incredible vocal harmonies: the new La Luz track is psychedelic tranquility epitomised (without a single trace of hyperbole).
Guitarist/vocalist Shana Cleveland describes the new track as a “California lullaby”, the melody of which came to the songwriter whilst hiking in the hills above the Yuba River.” As such, Cleveland explains, ‘Endless Afternoon’ conveys a similar serenity she perhaps felt upon the melody coming to her: that of “the sweetness found in slow days close to home.”
