Irish indie duo kleio return with the melancholic and reflective new indie-rock fizzer ‘the avenue’.
Bringing a captivating mix of delicate vocals, intricate guitar work, and subtle synths ‘the avenue’ captures an essence of The National. The track opens with a gentle vocal delivery and a reflective guitar line, gradually building tension until it erupts into a soaring indie-rock anthem. Brimming with ethereal guitar layers and emotionally charged lyrics, ‘the avenue’ captures the essence of a band growing in confidence and ambition, combining tight grooves with stadium-sized choruses.
Speaking about the track, lead songwriter Luke shared insight into the creative process behind ‘the avenue’: “I think The Avenue was a big step for the band in terms of songwriting. We usually stick to the classic song structure, but this one was different—it wrote itself,” he said. “When we finished, we knew it was something special. It feels like a matured version of our sound but still holds onto the themes we’ve explored in previous releases. It’s a song that myself and Alex are incredibly proud of.”
Despite only being on the scene for a short time, kleio’s rise has been meteoric. The duo has already garnered a strong following, with two sold-out shows in Waterford and Dublin earlier this year. Their infectious energy and fresh take on indie rock have not only captivated Irish audiences but have also made waves across the Irish Sea. This year, they made their British debut supporting Irish indie heroes Barstaff in Manchester, before hitting the road again to support Post-Party on their Irish tour in Limerick.
