Great news from Birmingham-born Londoner John Myrtle today, from whom we last heard a couple of months ago with the sprightly teaser track from his upcoming debut album, “Get Her Off My Mind”. That was his first new music in more than 18 months, following the mid-2019 release of the Here’s John Myrtle EP. He’s announced that the proper follow-up to that EP – the aforementioned debut album – is out in a couple of months.
Along with the announcement, Myrtle’s shared the Bournville-shot video for the delightful pastoral pop nugget that serves as the record’s lead single. Get acquainted with the brief and brilliant “How Can You Tell If You Love Her?” below, and you can listen to “Get Her Off My Mind” as well if you like, which you should. No sign of a tracklist yet, but they’re both set to appear on Myrtle Soup, which arrives on Friday June 18th via the esteemed Sad Club Records, also home to the likes of Rosehip Teahouse and Clara Mann.
