Rowdy Outsider are a pop punk/alternative rock band from Drogheda, Ireland. Made up of vocalist Matthew Doyle, Drummer Sean Murtagh and Bassist/Guitarist Conor Whearty. Rowdy Outsider fuse the rock sounds of
the nineties and noughties with contemporary ideas, topics and productions.
“Causing My Insanity dives into the complex nature of addiction and the unexpected discovery of finding yourself in its grasp. The song is about grappling with the dissonance between our initial inability to comprehend addiction’s lure and our eventual entanglement in its destructive patterns. The song is a reflection on the struggle of falling into habits that once seemed incomprehensible. The lyrics are quite self-deprecating, filled with feelings of self- doubt and show us trying to confront our own insecurities. The song explores the feeling of being trapped in a cycle of negative thoughts, battling demons that threaten to cause insanity.” – Rowdy Outsider

Formed in 2018, the band released their debut single in January 2020 and have since followed up with a string of independent releases in the last two years. 2022 saw the band play extensively in the Dublin scene, performing in venues including The Workman’s Club, The Sound House and a sold out headline show in Whelan’s. Alongside playing live, the band spent the latter part of 2022 writing and recording new music. With a sound that recalls early Green Day and Sum 41, 2023 promises an angrier, louder and more mature Rowdy Outsider.
