London-based alternative pop-rock band Good Time Locomotive have built a reputation for their signature blend of groovy highs and hard-hitting lows. Now the band is charging ahead with no signs of slowing down, as they unveil their latest self-titled EP, ‘Good Time Locomotive’.
The six-track project, which includes previously released singles ‘GTL’ and ‘Stay Close,’ showcases the group’s vast musical range. Infused with a contemporary flair and a nostalgic drive, their distinctive sound is an irresistible mix of soulful grooves, funk-driven guitar riffs, and infectious pop energy. The EP cements their reputation for crafting feel-good anthems that seamlessly blend indie rock, disco melodies, and retrospective ballads. With this release, Good Time Locomotive continue their mission to bring their riotous and emotionally charged music to an even wider audience.
Reflecting on the new project, James, the band’s drummer and co-songwriter, shares insights into its deeper meaning: “This self-titled EP, like the name of the band, really sums up why we started this project. Music is one of the most powerful emotional experiences a human being can have, so for us, we have always strived to write songs that make you feel that emotion in the most visceral way possible! The songs on this EP cover everything from the love of the party to overcoming grief, regret, lost love, to the need for human unity. So we cover most bases, I think!”
Since forming in 2020, Good Time Locomotive have carved out a unique place in the alternative scene with their funky pop-infused songwriting and uplifting messages. Their journey began during the first COVID lockdown, where they crafted their early material over Zoom before transitioning into the studio post-quarantine. Their debut single, ‘Lines of Symmetry,’ released in Spring 2023, marked the beginning of their rapid ascent. Since then, they have built a strong following on streaming platforms and gained a reputation for their dynamic, high-energy live performances.
