News: Good Time Locomotive Share Infectious New Single ‘G.T.L’

Since bursting onto the scene in 2023, London-based indie-pop-rockers Good Time Locomotive have made a name for their feel good sound and feverish live shows, the self-titled new single ‘G.T.L’ captures the bands stylistic and radiant sense of joy and danceability perfectly.

‘G.T.L’ quickly sets the tone with a sonic backdrop that brings together latin undertones with intricate guitar licks and infectious melodic vocals. Layering piano, bass and guitar the band create a full backdrop for the urgent and energetic lead vocals, creating a buoyant and danceable sound which captures both an indie flair with a Happy Mondays-esque undertone.

With roaring atmospheres and a forward-driving momentum, the track is fun, catchy and captures the sense of energy of the bands live shows. As comparable to The Hoosiers as it is to the aforementioned Happy Mondays, the track doesn’t take itself too seriously, instead just relying on an easy going sense of joy, as you would expect from the bands name.

Reflecting on the creation of the track, band member James shared a surprising fact about its origins: “Funnily enough, we wrote this feel-good party rock track in the midst of the first COVID lockdown on Zoom! Hardly a party atmosphere, but maybe it was us all missing the human connection that helped give it the upbeat vibe it has.” Despite the isolating conditions, the song’s joyful tone shines through. The title ‘Good Time Locomotive’ came naturally, according to James, symbolizing a spirit of “triumph over adversity through the power of music,” which ultimately became the band’s name.
