GLU, the indie/hip-hop solo project from Michael Shuman, has released a new single today. Fans can listen to the dark and vibey NIGHT SHIFT now here.
“NIGHT SHIFT discusses the impending doom we feel, generated by the current state of our world,” explains Shuman on the track. “And with those existential feelings, living your life without a proper concern about tomorrow, but rather living for today.”
The music blends disparate influences from Gorillaz and Mac Miller to Depeche Mode, to create a precision vocal flow with driving pop and angular guitars to create a complex sound that is as threatening as it is accessible.
GLU has been on tour with Phantogram throughout November in the US, and they have a sold out headline date at Zebulon in Los Angeles on the 20th November. GLU then comes to the UK for 7 shows, kicking off in Birmingham on 7th December and wrapping in London on the 14th December – full dates below.
The American singer songwriter Michael Shuman, also known as Mikey Shoes, is widely known as the bassist of the rock band Queens of the Stone Age and singer and guitarist in Mini Mansions.
