frances willow, an emerging alternative/indie producer and singer, has burst onto the scene with her debut single ‘anna banana.’
Creating a rich mix of electronics and folk elements the track captures an essence of the likes of Bon Iver and Japanese House in an etherial and emotive blend of sonic textures.
Initially conceived during her teenage years after an argument with a friend, the track gradually evolved into a mature and nuanced work of art, with gentle laters of synth, strummed guitars and the fragilic, vocoder tinted lead vocal. As the track processes, it gradually grows before gently working its way to wards a grungy, indie final section/
Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, frances willow explains, “‘anna banana’ is an Alternative Indie Rock track that I started writing when I was 13, I had an argument with a friend as one does when they are a teenager, and wrote the chorus of this song. In my second year of university, I decided to revisit it as a task to myself and ended up really liking the outcome, this song was also the beginning of my new alias and helped create and shape the sound I wanted to have for ‘frances willow.'”
Lush, experimental, multi-dimensional and yet accessible and utterly beautiful, the track is a really exciting introduction to willow’s sound. experience that showcases Willow’s versatility as an artist. A remarkable debut worthy of multiple listens!
