News: Dream Phases switch off on ‘Turn Away’; new album Phantom Idol out today

Los Angeles quartet Dream Phases spent the guts of the past two years at work on the follow-up to late 2021’s second album New Distractions, and that time bears fruit today with the release of its successor. To coincide with the record’s release, they’ve shared a video for ‘Turn Away’, a song about being overwhelmed by the state of the world and just sacking everything off for a while.

Speaking about the album, the band say that it ‘deals with a good amount of self discovery and self reflection as well as personal relationships. It also continues our influence of living in Los Angeles, and our love of California in general with a healthy dose of escapism mixed in there. [It] comes the closest to what we initially envisioned both sonically and performance wise, and we can’t wait to share the record.”

They don’t need to wait any longer; Phantom Idol is out today on the excellently-named Coconut Spaceship Records, and you can watch the Matt Lingo-directed video for ‘Turn Away’ below.
