After a hiatus, Manchester’s post-punk sensation Church Party have emerged stronger than ever with their debut EP, ‘Cut The Colours’. The 5-track EP melds alt-rock tendencies, with pop melodies and moments of brilliant euphoria, the EP showcases the bands vibrant and thoughtful Post-Punk sound.
Diving into themes of passion, heartbreak, and recovery, Church Party craft heartfelt songwriting over tight and infectious guitar led soundscapes. Lead single ‘Back In The Room’ encapsulates this fusion, mirroring a friend’s sectioning journey with haunting verses and dreamy choruses.
‘Cut The Colours’ marks the band’s return since 2022, overcoming struggles after their 2016 breakup due to frontman Tommy Stewart’s battles with addiction and bisexuality. The EP encapsulates his emotional journey, supported by Matt Downes (guitar), Michael Copp (drums), and Richard Stewart (bass, backing vocals).
The band explain the EP further: “It represents the culmination of our own hard work that has come off our own backs with our own work and initiative. It’s our baby that we are excited to share with the world.”
Available on streaming platforms, ‘Cut The Colours’ arrives with a limited vinyl release of 100 copies. Church Party’s musical voyage offers a heartfelt reflection of Manchester’s spirit.
