Having experienced critical acclaim and moderate commercial success with their first album, ‘Speed Kills’, West London pub rockers Chubby and the Gang have announced details of its follow-up, along with a new single and a 40-date UK/Ireland tour. ‘The Mutt’s Nuts’ is released via Partisan on August 27th and, as with its predecessor, has been produced by multi-talented Fucked Up drummer Jonah Falco. According to a press release, the album builds upon the hugely enjoyable but mostly one-note ‘Speed Kills’ by incorporating influences from genres as disparate as country and Northern Soul. Chubby and the Gang have chosen ‘Coming Up Tough’, a song critiquing the UK’s revolving-door prison system and based on the personal experiences of a relative of frontman Charlie Manning Walker, as the album’s lead single. Check it out below.
Meanwhile, the band are hoping to head out on an extensive tour of the UK and Ireland, including a gig at London’s 800-capacity Scala, throughout November and December. Here’s hoping it goes ahead. Dates are below. ‘The Mutt’s Nuts’ can be pre-ordered here.
