Today, Brisbane trio The Goon Sax have released a deluxe digital edition of their third album ‘Mirror II’ released through Chapter Music and Matador Records.

‘Mirror II’ is a garment of perfectly formed pop songs with a ragged edge and blemishes – but with a golden thread of celestial choruses that binds everything together. The songs are sometimes raw and vulnerable, sometimes lush and rich. It’s a dichotomy that works well and forms a perfectly whole costume. This is a band that might well have its genes formed in the Brisbane sound but is transforming into its own unique apparition; a creation steeped in a brilliant musical history but forging its own path.

We gave the album solid 9/10 last year and it appeared in our list of best releases for 2021, but now the record returns with four unreleased songs, including two album outtakes, a demo of ‘In the Stone’, and a perfect cover of Len’s 1999 top-ten hit, ‘Steal My Sunshine’. This version puts The Goon Sax’s own distinctive imprimatur on the sparkling laconic single:

Exquisite.

The Goon Sax have also hit the road opening for Snail Mail on dates across the UK, Europe, and North America. The trio will also return to the US this fall to join Interpol and Spoon on their co-headlining “Lights, Camera, Factions” tour. Find the complete itinerary below.
